As a Contract Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer, you'll have the following responsibilities:

  • Write embedded firmware for Simplexity's client
  • On-site presence at Simplexity's client site in Bellevue, WA at least 2 days per week
  • Work effectively in a team setting and collaborate openly with other engineers
  • Work through the product lifecycle, including design, implementation, and verification
  • Design and execute acceptance criteria
  • Interface with the customer and write succinct and clear status reports

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited four-year university
  • 8+ years of applicable experience
  • High level of proficiency in C or C++ programming
  • Experience with:
    • Scripting language experience in Python
    • Use of an embedded RTOS (FreeRTOS, ThreadX, VxWorks, Integrity, uC/OS, etc.)
    • Embedded processors, preferably Nordic MCUs (nRF52, nRF53, etc) and also ARM
    • Experience with the Zephyr OS platform
    • RF experience
    • Peripheral buses (I2C, SPI, Serial, PCI)
    • Device IO (Serial, USB, Ethernet, Wifi, Bluetooth, Zigbee)
    • Analog and digital sensors
  • Ability to quickly learn existing customer code base and new technical skills
  • Highly motivated with demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Have a command of software engineering fundamentals and modern SW development processes
  • Excellent organization and analytical skills combined with attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and plan effectively
  • Ethical and honest in every part of the job

PLUSES TO HAVE

  • Robotics experience.
  • Firmware development for medical, molecular diagnostic or IVD devices.
  • Feedback control systems
  • Understanding of PCBA design concepts
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Confluence, JIRA, BitBucket)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Two type of contractor roles will be considered:
contractors (have your own registered consulting/contracting business)

  • Hourly rate $100 - $130/hr, depending on experience
  • No benefits, holidays, or paid time off (PTO) included

2. W-2 contractor (employee of Simplexity)

  • Hourly rate $75 - $95/hr, depending on experience
  • Excellent Healthcare plan (Medical, Dental, and Vision) fully paid for by the company for the employee; partial payment for dependents
  • 401(k) plan with company match after 1,000 hours of service
  • Long-term and short-term disability, AD&D and Life Insurance
  • No holidays or PTO
  • Paid Sick Time eligible on the 90th day of employment, accruing 1 hour for each 40 hours worked

If applicant prefers a salaried position with holidays and paid time off, that will be considered, although at a lower rate and still offered as a contract role for this particular project.
