Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking an individual who demonstrates strong motivation and exceptional work behaviors to join our exceptional team as a Filling Technician I. This is a manufacturing role located in Rockford, where you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the world.

Responsibilities:

Perform filling operations according to established protocols and proceduresMaintain a flawless production environment by strictly following safety and quality guidelinesCollaborate with a world-class team to determine and implement process improvementsCompete tasks on time and effectively communicate progressSuccessfully implement standard operating proceduresOperate an assortment of semi-automated and manual filling equipmentOperate a variety of industrial equipment including fork trucks, pallet jacks, and similar equipmentProper completion of required manufacturing documentation under ISO9001 guidelinesAssist department by staging raw materials; cleaning laboratory hardware; off-loading automated filling lines; and supporting the department when needed
Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent experienceProven ability to work in a team-oriented environmentStrong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocolsStrong motivation with a willingness to learn and developExcellent communication and problem-solving skillsThe employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 poundsIndividual must be able to handle working in a very fast paced environment while processing multiple responsibilities simultaneouslyGood verbal and written communication skillsBasic knowledge of the metric systemAbility to wear personal protective equipment when required. With the potential of using a full-face respiratorHazardous Waste Generation/Management: Associates in this position may, as part of their job activities, generate or handle hazardous waste as defined by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. Individuals are required to receive initial hazardous waste training within the first 30 working days of assignment. The initial waste training shall include but not be limited to the following general categories: Identifying hazardous and solid waste, hazardous waste management, recycling, treatment and disposal, emergency preparedness, record keeping, pollution prevention and waste reduction. Following initial training the Associate will receive annual refresher training in the same topic field as listed above. Associate should be confident working frequently with organics, including flammable solvents, strong acids / bases, potential biohazards (including raw animal serums), large scale bacteria, and hazardous chemicals.
