Mayo Clinic Health System if offering two one-year externship openings. We are a regional health system with a full range of services located in Mankato, MN. This program provides in-depth clinical knowledge and skills that enable you to provide high-quality, comprehensive audiologic care. Education focuses on providing patients with state-of-the-art clinical audiology services to patients of all ages.

The following are services that we provide:

  • Hearing Evaluations (birth to geriatric)
  • Newborn Hearing Screenings
  • ABRs
  • Vestibular Evaluations (rotary chair, posturography, videonystagmography, canalith repositioning procedures, VEMPs, vHIT)
  • Otoacoustic Emissions
  • Hearing Aid Selection, Fitting, and Dispensing
  • Cochlear Implant Candidacy Evaluations, Fitting and Programming
  • Bone Anchored Implant (BAI) Evaluations, Fitting and Programming

Applicants must currently be enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Audiology program to apply for the Audiology Externship. Accepted externs must obtain a temporary Minnesota doctoral externship license.

Meals will be provided thought the hospital cafeteria and coffee shop on clinic days. Will interview travel be compensated? No

Does the externship site provide orientation to relevant clinical policies and procedures? Yes Does the externship site provide instructions about patient's rights and providing patient education? Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: Externs should be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill to perform the basic battery for behavioral hearing evaluations for normal developing children and adults. Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: Externs will be able to demonstrate independence in performing diagnostic hearing evaluations, vestibular evaluations, hearing aid programming and verification, implant evaluations, newborn hearing screenings, and ABRs Clinical opportunities that will be given to the extern:
