Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional support and coaching to teachers as they work to ensure that each student can reach his or her academic potential
  • Primarily work with teachers and students to support instruction in the K-5 th grade classrooms
  • Co-teach with teachers, support teachers in designing units and lessons to develop their year-long curriculum
  • Analyze data to modify and enrich the curriculum
  • Support and administer assessments to meet student's needs
  • Develop appropriate Gifted Educational Plans (Eps), including determining present performance levels and measurable annual goals (with benchmarks or short-term objectives)
  • Collect student performance data and report student progress toward EP goals
  • Support general education teachers in implementing appropriate enrichment/acceleration
  • Create and evaluate programming for gifted and talented populations
  • Possess and apply knowledge of the educational needs of gifted and talented students
  • Knowledge of strategies and materials for the education of gifted and talented students
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Identification of gifted and talented students in an annual cycle and as required for transfer students
  • Liaise with leaders on campus and contribute to discussions and planning for expanding project-based learning into Lower and Middle School to meet the needs of high-ability students
  • Deliver and make recommendations for faculty professional development related to high-ability students and differentiation Common Qualification Requirements:
    • Masters/advanced degree (preferred) or Bachelor's degree in Education or related field, with a solid academic track record
    • 5+ years of experience working with gifted and talented students in various grades and administering evaluations preferred; experience reading and interpreting evaluations required
    • Gifted Endorsement
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills for communicating with parents, administrators, and faculty
