The Opportunity

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:


• Focus on large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure project with a focus as a Staff Augmentation Project Engineer/ Manager for large Black & Veatch client

• Participation in scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration for infrastructure projects is also part of the role


• Coordinate with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects.

• Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers on less complex projects. Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Standards:

  • Continues to learn, remains current and applies independent knowledge and interpretation about departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black and Veatch policies and procedures relative to assigned tasks.

Engineering Production:

  • Review of engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies against applicable requirements.
  • Develops comments on engineering deliverables noting design elements that are in compliance with the required standards, or those requiring modifications due to constructability issues.
  • Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
  • Organize and manage personnel assigned to the activities, direct and control the work performed, and establish quality assurance.
  • Perform project related budgeting, Invoicing, scheduling, and coordination.
  • Conduct field investigations, assessments, and evaluations.
  • Assist with advertising and bidding phase of projects.

Project Coordination:

  • Actively coordinates with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects.

Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology:

  • Designs a complete project of moderately complex scope within an assigned practice area(s)

People Management - (supervision, career development, training, mentoring):

  • Typically assists with performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions required
Preferred Qualifications


• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline

• Licensed PE or ability and interest to obtain PE and/or be in active pursuit of registration

• Thorough understanding or water and wastewater design (i.e., Infrastructure, Conveyance, Pump Stations/Lift Stations)

• Ability and motivation to lead portions of complex projects with guidance and mentorship

Minimum Qualifications


• Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.

• Minimum of 5 years related work experience.

• All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Certifications

Professional engineering registration is preferred or in active pursuit

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Will be expected to be on client offices (up to) 5 day/week

Typical office environment, typical construction environment, extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards (electric currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation). Sitting, walking, talking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods of time, lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
