Position Description

Position Summary:


The Product Quality Technician I is responsible for assisting and providing hands-on technical support to the Product Quality engineering team.

This includes generating and executing test protocols, gathering and analyzing data, complaint investigations, documentation review, and additional tasks. Role will support both development and commercialized products, working with both consumables as well as electro-mechanical medical devices.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Executes the investigation and testing of product quality related to manufacturing process issues originating from Non-Conforming Material Report (NCMR), SCARs, field complaints, and any process changes.
  • Conducts engineering studies, product analyses and tests, and post-design transfer change orders related to product and manufacturing processes.
  • Participates on project teams to support testing initiatives.
  • Executes test methods, tooling and fixtures to facilitate performance evaluation and investigation of returned products and nonconforming material.
  • Provide product quality information to support monitoring and maintenance of product quality.
  • Utilizes work instructions and procedures associated with departmental and organizational activities.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

Minimum

  • Two year Technical degree in quality or mechanical inspection/testing, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
  • One or more years experience as manufacturing or engineering technician in medical device industry.
  • General computer knowledge in a Microsoft Windows OS environment using common office applications and database applications, specifically Excel.
  • Problem solving skills, ability to interpret drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of statistical tools.
  • Working knowledge of test method development, testing requirements, and fixture qualification.
  • Travel requirements are minimal, less than 10%.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of design verification test processes
  • Knowledge of production environments and associated quality control measures
  • Experience with equipment, process, and product validation
  • Experience with test method validation
  • Experience with incoming inspection and inspection plan setup
