Summary

Responsible for the proper and timely recording of financial transactions in the general ledger in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles; the preparation of regulatory reports required to satisfy government reporting requirements; including the preparation of quarterly call reports, and some annual report preparation for First Financial Bank and all affiliates within First Financial Corporation.

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and previous banking experience preferred. Working knowledge of GAAP and internal controls. Strong spreadsheet, word processing and database skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong understanding of fundamental accounting transaction flows including system interfaces. Financial and accounting report writing skills required.

Primary Activities

  • Prepare quarterly call report.
  • Reviews sales tax filings to ensure compliance with state regulations and ensure returns and payments accurately reflect the liability.
  • Research and resolve outstanding reconciling items in a timely manner.
  • Creates adjusting journal entries to correct balances of general ledger accounts.
  • Provides requisite supporting documentation to substantiate journal entries.
  • Reviews accounting entries posted to the general ledger system to ensure proper accounting treatment.
  • Establishes and implements operating procedures to insure proper internal controls
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of the Bank
  • Set up a classification system for new and established general ledger accounts to provide for reporting to regulatory agencies and to provide responsibility centers with current financial information
  • Ensures the preparation of scheduled statistical and financial reports for management, Directors and bank regulatory agencies
  • Assists in the preparation of all Bank and department income and expense reports
  • Review job procedures and policies under their control
  • Determine proper segregation of responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain all property tax records
  • Prepare ESOP and 401K reports for external auditors
  • Establishes goals and objectives
  • Distributes forms
  • Any other duties as assigned.
