We invite you to explore our Psychiatric Registered Nurse position.Key Responsibilities
The Psychiatric RN is responsible for delivering both clinical and administrative support within the program. This includes executing therapeutic measures as directed by the physician, engaging in patient education, and facilitating rehabilitation while communicating treatment plans to patients and their families. The RN will also coordinate unit activities and ensure accountability for all assigned responsibilities.
Key Duties Include:
- Exhibiting clinical expertise in psychiatric nursing while ensuring high standards of patient care.
- Utilizing effective communication skills to foster therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Recognizing and managing potential behavioral issues with empathy and consistency.
- Demonstrating a solid understanding of psycho-dynamics and therapeutic interventions.
- Accurately documenting all relevant clinical information in accordance with established policies.
- Employing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Participating in the development of master treatment plans alongside other key staff.
- Attending treatment planning meetings to contribute to patient care strategies.
- Conducting patient group sessions and documenting participation.
- Assisting in discharge planning and referrals.
- Reviewing physician orders for accuracy and clarity, and documenting implementation appropriately.
- Administering prescribed treatments and medications accurately.
- Documenting medication administration thoroughly in the medical record.
- Maintaining competency in restraint and seclusion practices in line with hospital policy.
- Exhibiting proficiency in recognizing medical conditions and responding appropriately.
- Promoting the program through community education and referral development as directed.
- Mentoring and orienting new staff members.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- Current Indiana RN licensure or active Compact State RN licensure.
- A degree from an accredited nursing program.
- Strong customer service skills, including effective listening.
- Critical thinking abilities and the capacity to work independently in a dynamic environment.
- BLS Certification.
- Completion of Crisis Prevention Certification training within 30 days of hire.
