Job Summary and Qualifications

At HCA/HealthONE, we recognize the important role our Lab Departments play in our success. We are seeking a Lab Assistant for our center to ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high-quality, efficient care. We are an amazing team that works hard to support each other and is seeking a phenomenal addition like you who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. We want you to apply now Here is some of what you can expect from being a Lab Assistant with us:

  • You will perform all technical procedures and maintain knowledge of all procedures and protocols pertinent to the department.
  • You will maintain proficiency in performance of technical procedures, including venipuncture and capillary puncture on patients of all ages.
  • You will collect and process specimens on patients of all ages as required. You will perform test requests and chart results on patients with many different clinical conditions (from screening of healthy outpatients up to and including the major, complex intensive care patients) and all age ranges from newborns to geriatric patients.
  • You will assist in the departments clerical duties.
  • You will serve as a customer service representative for the lab on the phone and in person. You will perform the required function verification of equipment.
  • You will communicate with other hospitals, hospital departments, physicians, medical offices, reference laboratories, and patients.

Qualifications you will need for this role:

  • Phlebotomy certification preferred
  • High school diploma or better
  • Healthcare experience as a phlebotomist, 1-2 years preferred, and/or completion of formal phlebotomy class preferred
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate clearly and concisely with coworkers, physicians, nursing staff, and patients
  • Must demonstrate above-average manual dexterity
  • Must have the ability to type proficiently (at least 30 words per minute) on the computer
  • Shift: 4 am -1230 pm / every other weekend rotation
