Position OverviewPart-time Instructors are responsible for delivering educational content in their specialized fields. They report to the department chair and do not hold supervisory roles. Key responsibilities include teaching, assessing students, and fulfilling related instructional duties. Instruction may be delivered in various formats including in-person, hybrid, and online. Classes may be scheduled during the day, evening, or weekend. Instructors are expected to be patient and respectful while clearly communicating their expectations for student performance. A commitment to the course and program objectives is essential.
This posting aims to fill multiple part-time Instructor roles. Candidates must be prepared to establish Colorado as their primary workplace, including for online instruction.
Compensation is determined based on credit hour/contact hour ratios as assigned by the department chair. RRCC offers a starting rate of $1782.04 per credit hour with lab. This posting remains open for continuous applications throughout the year. Only those selected for interviews will be contacted.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery:
Must attend all scheduled class sessions and adhere to class start and end times. Teach the assigned curriculum utilizing required texts and materials.
Provide students with a comprehensive syllabus prior to the first class, including course description, objectives, assignments, grading policies, and contact information.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance and report promptly.Employ technology to enhance learning, meeting the minimum standards for the College's learning management system.
- Student Evaluation: Keep updated grading records and submit final grades by the designated deadline. Provide timely feedback to students regarding their progress and grades.
Course Preparation:
Prepare for each class session, considering diverse learning strategies that cater to a varied student population. Ensure that course content and assessment methods align with established objectives.
Communication:
Respond to students and RRCC staff within 24-48 hours during the term and for at least one week after grades are submitted. Attend departmental meetings as scheduled and provide updates to the department chair.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Associate Degree or higher in an Allied Health field. 4,000 hours of verified work experience in the field within the last five years. Must possess a current CTE credential or the ability to obtain one.
Certified Phlebotomist (RPT, PT, or MLT), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) with verified phlebotomy experience, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with verified phlebotomy experience, or Registered Nurse with verified phlebotomy experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
BLS/CPR certification (AHA).
One year of teaching experience in post-secondary or vocational/technical education, including both online and in-person formats. Demonstrated knowledge of Phlebotomy and experience in non-traditional learning environments.
Experience working in diverse communities and supporting the success of underrepresented students and staff.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
The ability to accurately observe and assess venipuncture techniques, evaluate student performance, and ensure safety in the lab environment is crucial. Visual acuity is necessary for interpreting instructional materials and navigating the laboratory safely.
Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
The following physical and cognitive demands are commonly associated with this role: Regular use of a computer and standard office equipment such as phones and copiers. Cognitive tasks include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
Frequent communication with internal and external stakeholders and students is required. Must be able to convey accurate information in these interactions.
Occasional lifting, positioning, and transporting of classroom and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
The frequency of bending may vary based on tasks such as assisting students with demonstrations or accessing equipment.

The Phlebotomy Adjunct Instructor will work closely with the Program Director within the Academic Affairs division to ensure alignment with program goals and curriculum standards.
They will also collaborate with clinical skills instructors and administrative staff across the college, fostering effective communication and teamwork to enhance the educational experience for students. The role primarily involves on-campus instruction, with a flexible schedule to accommodate course planning, grading, and student meetings as needed.
While there may not be set office hours, instructors are expected to hold office hours by appointment to support student needs. Occasional mandatory meetings outside of regular class hours may also be required.
Weekend hours, attendance at off-campus events, and travel may be necessary to support program activities and initiatives.
