The Department of Family and Community Medicine is recruiting an Advanced Practice Provider to join the actively evolving oncology primary care program and the cancer survivorship program within the UC Health system.

The provider will offer outpatient services primarily at the Barrett Cancer Center.

They will provide care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and further the COM mission through excellence in education, innovation, and clinical care in the field of cancer survivorship and oncology primary care.

Essential Functions

  • Clinical Care (0.6 FTE)
Collaborate with the Primary Care team (0.3 FTE) to provide primary care for patients at UC Health (UCMC location) with active cancer, a prior history of cancer or a cancer predisposition mutation
All new patients will initially be evaluated by oncology primary care attending physician
Responsible for routine followup visits for chronic medical conditions, preoperative visits, physicals/preventive care, advanced care planning, and hospital discharge
Phone management and acute visits as deemed appropriate by attending physician
Collaborate with the cancer survivorship team (0.3 FTE) to provide cancer survivorship consultations for cancer survivors at UC Health (UCMC and West Chester locations)
Collaborate with the attending physician on clinical cases and/or seek supervision/joint visits when felt necessary by either the APP or attending physician
Attend monthly cancer wellness clinic meetings
Attend monthly didactics for fellows and APPs in oncology primary care
Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the clinical sites

  • Administrative (0.4 FTE)
Oncology Primary Care (0.3 FTE) clinical duties that include review of test results, assistance with patient communication, and overall coordination of care in collaboration with nursing and attending physicians
Cancer Survivorship (0.1 FTE) duties include collaboration with the Director of Cancer Survivorship and the Cancer Survivorship Program Manager to help develop clinical programming and educational events
Preparation of treatment summaries and care plans, review of test results and coordination of care in collaboration with nursing and attending physicians
Regular review of patients with the medical director of oncology primary care

  • Scholarship
All care faculty are expected to contribute to scholarship, including any of the following: curriculum development; research; regional and national presentations; publications; peer review.

Required Experience
If Nurse Practitioner:Three (3) years nursing experience.
Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/subspecialty.
If Physician Assistant:

Minimum of one (1) year ex

Required Education
If Nurse Practitioner: Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
If Physician Assistant:

Master's Degree from an Accredited Physician Assistant program.

Required Trainings/Certifications

If Nurse Practitioner:
Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority
Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty

If Physician Assistant:
Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority
Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
