Job Summary:Responsible for planning, budgeting/forecasting, and oversight of daily trucking operations including safety, compliance, quality control, and financial performance. Manages internal drivers/fleet and trucking operations by working closely with internal/external customers, sales, dispatch, operations personnel, leadership, and vendors/suppliers. Oversees and coordinates administrative operations and develops workflow process improvements while ensuring continuity between manufacturing, construction, sales, trucking, safety, environmental, regulatory requirements, and data integrity. This includes compliance with company policies, and applicable federal/state/local regulations.
Main Responsibilities
• Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
• Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
• Reinforce safety guidelines with employees of vendors and subcontractors on Simon property and job sites
• Establish and implement key performance indicators and utilize them to manage assigned area
• Prepare and maintain budgets and financial data related to trucking operations; adjust strategies to maintain strong financial performance
• Effectively manage the work environment and logistics, and administrative staff to ensure safety, regulatory, and production targets are met
• Manage internal trucking fleet and drivers and coordinate with manufacturing for effective utilization of fleet
• Establish and maintain relationships with lease-haulers and engage as needed to supplement materials delivery
• Keep track of delivery times, transport costs, and efficiency; maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
• Maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and Company business groups
• Plan and coordinate trucking dispatch and scheduling while targeting utilization efficiency and profitability
• Maintain regular communications with drivers and customers to ensure delivery deadlines are met
• Implement effective planning, scheduling, and maintenance practices in order to reduce down-time
• Plan and coordinate required repair and preventative maintenance on trucking equipment; make recommendations regarding equipment replacement or disposal
• Oversee customer service support with customer communication, order processing, customer delivery, and system support
• Oversee daily scheduling, ticketing, and hauler reconciliations
• Utilize sales tools (i.e., zone maps, pricing processes) and coordinate with sales and customer service personnel
• Implement best practices and automation solutions to optimize administrative functions to effectively support internal projects, external sales, and supply contracts
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Degree in Business, Supply-Chain Management, Logistics, related field, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
• Valid drivers' license and clean driving history required
• 5+ years of experience in logistics, construction, or related field; experience with systems workflow, integration, data and data integrity preferred
• 3 years of experience supervising the work of others preferred
• Ability to effectively lead and develop employees
• Ability to work independently, adapt to changing situations, and problem-solve in a dynamic environment
• Prior experience working with financial reports and developing/managing an operational budget
• Proficiency in use of computers including MS Office, database, project planning, dispatch, and/or logistics software
• Basic knowledge of DOT, OSHA, MSHA, and other applicable local, state, and federal regulations
• Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines
• Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 25 pounds with or without assistance
• Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Frequently required to sit and use a computer for long periods
• Exposure to typical construction site conditions, including equipment and machinery, dust and loud noise, and weather
• Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
• Some travel may be required to attend meetings/training, and/or visit work sites
