Main Purpose of Job

The Project Manager (PM) for Innovation & Improvement with the Maryland Department of\r
General Services' (DGS) Office of State Procurement (OSP) plays a pivotal role in driving the\r
successful execution of all projects within the organization, focusing on performance drivers,\r
innovation, and continuous improvement. The Project Manager is also��responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and monitoring of�projects, including major priority activities and the tracking and monitoring of stakeholder�commitments. While working closely with various teams and interested parties to ensure�alignment with organizational goals and objectives, the Project Manager provides essential support through�the use of data and metrics, and a suite of visuals and various project management techniques�and tools.\r

POSITION DUTIES

Duties for this position include but are not limited to:\r

•�Develops and executes comprehensive project plans, including timelines,�milestones, and resource allocation, to ensure the successful delivery of�projects.\r

•�Collaborates with stakeholders to define the scope of a project, objectives, and�deliverables, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.\r

•�Utilizes project management methodologies and tools to monitor project�progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure�project success.\r

•�Facilitates regular project meetings and workshops, providing leadership�and guidance to project teams to drive progress and resolve issues�effectively.\r

•�Prepares and presents project status reports and updates to senior�management and key stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges,�and next steps.\r

•�Manages project budgets, expenses, and resources efficiently, ensuring�optimal utilization and adherence to financial guidelines and constraints.\r

• Other duties and special projects as assigned.\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:���Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. \r
Experience:�Six years of administrative staff or professional work.� \r
Notes: \r
1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.\r
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree�from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.� \r
3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university�for five years of�the required�experience. \r
4.�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. \r

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be given to applicants who possess the following�preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding�all qualifications.\r

•Five or more years of experience in project management within the public sector or a large, complex organization.�\r

•Experience with budget management and resource optimization.�\r

•Advanced experience using project management software and tools ( e.g. Microsoft Project, Asana, Trello).�\r

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r
