This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Duties include but are not limited to:
The MHNP has prescriptive authority and provides care for an identified patient panel in collaboration with a physician.

The PMHNP provides recovery-oriented care for Veterans utilizing their clinical expertise in individualized patient centered treatment planning, functional assessments, education, research, and consultation.

The PMHNP implements evidenced based education or therapies when deemed appropriate and maintains a, supportive, mutually respectful therapeutic alliances and is an advocate for the Veteran.

The PMHNP is assigned a panel of patients who are interested in reducing or ceasing substance use.

The PMH Nurse Practitioner is responsible for implementing outcomes measurement for Mental Health Services and ensuring compliance with Medical Center By-Laws.

The PMH Nurse Practitioner may contribute to the educational development for employees.
The PMH Nurse Practitioner will meet performance measures as assigned.

Assists in providing and ensuring clinical care is provided during periods of staff absences and/or makes arrangements for coverage to provide complex patient care.

The PMH Nurse Practitioner will demonstrate excellent practice based on the nursing process and evidence-based research. S/he will pay close attention to systems issues that require intervention, and quality and performance measures. S/he will demonstrate excellent nursing practice, leadership skills, problem-solving skills, and decision-making skills.
The PMH Nurse Practitioner may design, implement, and evaluate patient-specific and population-based programs of care. The PMH Nurse Practitioner influences and measures care outcomes by providing expert consultation and organizations/systems.
The PMH Nurse Practitioner demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex systems across the facility. Is familiar with JOINT COMMISSION and CARF Accreditation standards.

The PMH Nurse Practitioner has a thorough knowledge of patient medical records and is able to retrieve pertinent information from multiple sources/packages for case review (e.g., CPRS, VistA, etc.).

The PMH Nurse Practitioner has a functional knowledge of VERA reimbursement model, Decision Support System (DSS), VSSC/KLF and Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) InterQual Criteria and encounter coding for treatment procedures.
