General Position Description
The Coordinator, Employer Relations acts as a primary liaison for the college's career programs responsible for cultivating partnerships and developing internships, jobs, and other work-based learning experiences with public and private employers in the region. The position includes the development and application of strategies, planning and recruitment activities to build new employer and community partnerships and maintaining current employer relationships. The Employer Relations Coordinator works collaboratively with Internship & Workforce Services (IWS) Campus Coordinators and reports to the Director of Work-Based Learning.

1. Identify, recruit, and develop employer relationships to expand internship, employment, and other work-based learning experiences for students by engaging in one-on-one contact with prospective employers and organizations.

2. Cultivate and maintain relationships and partnerships with potential and existing employers by acting as an active ambassador between Valencia College and the employment community.

3. Collaborate and partner with other departments within the College community such as Career Services, Student Development, Valencia Alumni, Valencia Foundation, etc., to develop and implement events that promote internships and career planning.

4. Work collaboratively with IWS Campus Coordinators to connect Valencia students with employer partners and in planning IWS events.

5. Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote IWS services, internships and work-based learning opportunities.

Required Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Required Field of Study
Student services, human resources, marketing, management or related field.
Other Required Qualifications
Minimum of two years professional experience in career services (or closely related area) and employer relationship-building within higher education and/or business environments.

General Working Conditions
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment and within the community staffed by professional and student staff members. The individual in this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets, die cut machines, laminators, and fax machines. Some position responsibilities require tasks outside of the office, in either a classroom setting, programming venue, or outdoors.
While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 25 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
