- Independently operate delivery vehicles in order to deliver materials to multiple various locations.
- Determine manner and sequence of boarding to achieve balance and protection for fragile items.

- Perform operator maintenance services (i.e, checking fuel, oil, and other fluid levels, putting air in vehicle tires, etc.
- Inspect vehicles before driving to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition.
- Complete assigned tasks according to written and oral instructions.

- Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
- Selectee must pass a physical examination prior to appointment.
- (Physical - Effort: Duties require prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, stretching, reaching above the shoulder, and climbing. A moderate amount of hand, wrist, and arm movements is involved.
- Physical - Effort: Duties require Moderate lifting is required for objects weighing up to 80 pounds. Incumbent is required to have good eye-hand coordination and proficient vision.
- Working Conditions: Required to work outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather while loading and unloading vehicles.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Printing Plant Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator), you must meet the following requirements:
Applicants must meet the following Screen-Out element/JOB ELEMENT 1: to be considered for this position: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A PPW MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR without more than normal supervision to be considered eligible for the position. Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of this position. These duties require: driving delivery vehicles and handling weights and loads; lifting and moving delivery items, and maintaining deliveries and their associated delivery records and/or other records to be considered for this position. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the online questionnaire. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT ELEMENT below is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. The screen-out element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Printing Plant Work (Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision.
Note: The selectee is required to operate government owned or leased motor vehicles in the performance of duties, therefore a valid state driver's license is required. Applicants must submit a copy of their valid driver's license issued by a U.S. city or state to be considered for this position. Failure to submit such a valid license will result in loss of consideration for this position.
Additionally, the selectee must maintain a valid city or state driver's license in order to continue in this position.
Note 2: The selectee must not have any driving violations against his/her driving record within the seven years period immediately preceding submission of application.
Note 3: The selectee for this position is required to work outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather while loading and unloading delivery vehicles. Additionally, the selectee(s) of this position will drive in various traffic conditions and is exposed to the possibility of accidents and injury.

To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy; this position requires a background investigation for Suitability. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully complete a background check for Suitability. This review could include fingerprints and credit checks, as well as a full field FBI background investigation and tax and bar checks for attorney applicants. The background investigation covers a period of seven to ten years depending on the nature of the position; this process may take 6 weeks or longer.
