Job Summary

The Architect of the Capitol is seeking a highly skilled Insulator Worker to join our team in the Director Utilities and Power Plant Operations, Insulation Branch. As an Insulator Worker, you will perform routine tasks and assist journey-level incumbents with assignments, operating engineering equipment less than 10% of the work time and performing hazardous material removal and disposal, complying with OSHA and EPA safety and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, repair, and remove insulation on pipes, tanks, boilers, ducts, and other structures.
  • Measure, cut, trim, and fit insulating materials in accordance with detailed oral or written procedures.
  • Remove, repair, enclose, and encapsulate asbestos insulation and other asbestos building products.
  • Comply with OSHA and EPA safety and reporting requirements, as well as NIOSH, NESH, and AHERA regulatory requirements.
  • Perform duties that may involve handling and/or removal of friable and non-friable asbestos.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • Must meet the definition of specialized experience.
Working Conditions

The selectee will work under closer than normal supervision and receive increasing responsibility with the goal of attaining the full performance level (WG-10).
