Job Summary and Qualifications

This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical care to meet the needs of the whole person. The Licensed Practical Nurse shall perform services and procedures requiring basic knowledge of biological, physical, behavioral, psychological and sociological sciences. Practical nursing practice utilizes standardized procedures in the observation and care of the ill, injured and infirm; in maintenance of health; in action to safeguard life and health; and in the administration of medication and treatments prescribed by those so authorized by state law. Each LPN is directly accountable and responsible to the patient for the quality of nursing care rendered.

What you will do in this role:

  • Provide direct, evidence-based care to patients as directed by the physician or RN.
  • Assist with procedures, monitoring, or other functions as directed.
  • Perform lab and procedural tests within the LVN/LPN scope of practice, after demonstrating competency.
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Serve as a resource to department staff, students and volunteers to help deliver quality patient care.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • BLS – Healthcare provider.
  • IV certification preferred.
  • Graduate of a practical or vocational nursing program.
  • One year experience in acute care preferred.
