Job Profile Summary

The Scrum Product Owner will be responsible for maximizing the value of our product and ensuring its success by prioritizing and managing the product backlog, collaborating with stakeholders, and guiding the development team throughout the sprint cycle. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of agile methodologies, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering innovative solutions that delight customers. The focus of this role is on the creation and distribution of both marketing and regulated communications for our Financial Services and Health Plan customers.

***Pay range for this role is $100k-$150k/Yr***

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Product Vision and Strategy:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define the product vision, goals, and roadmap based on market trends, customer feedback, and business objectives.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs and market dynamics to inform product decisions and prioritize features that deliver maximum value.
  • Translates and communicates the product vision to Agile development teams utilizing Scrum framework.

Backlog Management:

  • Maintain and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring that it reflects the latest priorities and is aligned with the product vision and sprint goals.
  • Work closely with the development team to create and refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and other backlog items, ensuring clarity and feasibility.

Sprint Planning and Execution:

  • Participate in sprint planning meetings to discuss and prioritize backlog items for the upcoming sprint, clarifying requirements and acceptance criteria as needed.
  • Act as the voice of the customer during sprint execution, providing guidance and feedback to the development team to ensure that features meet user needs and expectations.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to define products requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria and to produce a clearly defined backlog.
  • Act as a bridge between stakeholders and development teams to remove roadblocks and resolve conflicts and decide actions.
  • Primary point of contact for stakeholders, representing their interests and gathering feedback on product features and enhancements.
  • Communicate product updates, progress, and challenges to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner, managing expectations and soliciting input as needed.

Product Launch and Feedback:

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute product launches, including documentation, training, and marketing support.
  • Champions solutions and prioritizes requirements to deliver best value to the customer and the business.
  • Monitor and analyze product metrics and customer feedback to evaluate the success of features and identify opportunities for improvement in future iterations.
  • Responsible for project budget oversight.

Staff Management:

  • Manages a subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with product management tools such as Jira, Trello, or Asana, as well as proficiency in Agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience

  • 5 + years of experience as an individual contributor in the related area as an individual contributor.
  • 1 -3 years supervisor experience may be required for Product Owners with staff management responsibility.
  • Product Owner or similar role in an agile software development environment.
  • Understanding of agile principles and practices, with certification as a Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) and/or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) preferred.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

Primary Work Location

  • This role is remote; however there may be preferences for candidates who are located near site to one of our office locations.
