The Chief Technology Officer Organization's vision is to raise the bar for technical excellence, talent, strategy, and standards across Technology. It also seeks to cultivate and foster technical innovation, as well as elevate and amplify the technical heartbeat on the organization.

One Data is a function as a service platform for our internal cloud platform within Amex. We are seeking to onboard aProduct Ownerto the One Data platform. With One Data, you'll have the ability to build technology products that shape the way that developers across American Express build micro services. We had an immense growth in terms of the number of onboarded functions in 2024 and except that growth to continue/accelerate.

The Product Owner (Platform Engineering) is a critical leader who will drive the vision, strategy, and execution of our internal developer platform. This role bridges the gap between technical capabilities and business objectives, ensuring the platform evolves to meet the needs of our engineering teams while supporting the company's broader goals. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in product ownership, a deep understanding of cloud technologies, and exceptional communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Vision & Strategy:Develop and articulate a compelling vision for the platform's evolution.Collaborate with stakeholders to define a roadmap that aligns with business objectives.Prioritize features, enhancements, and initiatives based on their value and impact.Set and track product OKRs and KPIs to measure success and drive continuous improvement.Platform Delivery & Execution:Lead the platform engineering team through Scaled Agile (SAFe) processes.Define and manage product backlogs, ensuring clarity and alignment.Facilitate effective communication between engineering, stakeholders, and leadership.Manage dependencies and risks associated with platform development.Technical Expertise & Advocacy:Maintain a deep understanding of cloud computing trends, technologies, and best practices.Advocate for the needs of our engineering teams, ensuring the platform enhances their productivity and effectiveness.Collaborate with architects and engineers to design scalable, reliable, secure platform solutions.Evaluate and integrate new tools and services that add value to the platform.Communication & Stakeholder Management:Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization.Facilitate discussions and gather feedback to inform platform development.Clearly communicate product vision, progress, and challenges to various audiences.Negotiate priorities and manage expectations in a complex environment.Ensure clear and concise documentation of product features and requirements. Qualifications & Skills: Proven Experience:6+ years of experience in product management, with at least 2+ years focused on platform or infrastructure products.Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and delivering complex products.Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.) and related technologies.Technical Skills:Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices and methodologies.Familiarity with modern cloud architectures, containerization, and DevOps practices.Knowledge of API design, microservices, and event-driven architectures.Soft Skills:Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.Ability to build consensus and influence stakeholders at all levels.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple parallel priorities and adapt to changing requirements.Passion for technology and a drive for continuous learning. Preferred Qualifications: Certifications in product management (e.g., CSPO, PSPO) and/or cloud technologies are a plus. Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
