Position Description: The Committee of 100 is seeking a full-time Event Manager. This is a hybrid (New York based) position, with a focus on content and speaker management. The ideal candidate will have background in or strong knowledge and interest in Chinese or Asian American cultures or affairs. This position will report directly to Committee of 100's Senior Event Manager but will also work closely with the Director of Events. This role will not manage others.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate with fellow staff and members to plan and execute all facets of Committee of 100 events, including national and international in person conferences, in person events (such as panel discussions, social/networking events and film screenings) and virtual webinars and meetings.
  • Responsible for content development and research, writing event proposals, invitations, presentation slides and other relevant event materials.
  • Coordinate with speakers and VIP guests on content and logistics.
  • Define target audience and promote events to maximize registrations.
  • Manage the registration process and post-registration communications with attendees to maximize attendance, manage post-event follow-up.
  • Collect feedback and analyze event data post-events to guide future event developments and improve attendee experience.
  • Liaise with vendors (hotel, catering, décor, entertainment, AV) and manage volunteers, etc.
  • Maintain event calendars internally and on the website.
  • Provide support to Committee of 100 members, including but not limited to, event-related support and managing member newsletters.
  • Other administrative functions as needed.


Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • BA/BS
  • 3-5 years of full-time experience in event planning or a related field
  • Experience writing event proposals, event promotional materials, speeches, newsletters, project plans, and copyediting
  • Event content research experience
  • Experience in planning and execution of in person, multi-day conference and virtual events
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint
  • Working knowledge of email marketing systems such as MailChimp
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and proactive
  • Flexible and able to work on multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced, fluid, and entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to prioritize work, set expectations, meet deadlines, multi-task, and produce consistent, quality work
  • Keen sense of judgment and confidentiality
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to maintain professionalism under pressure when dealing with difficult people or situations
  • Sound problem solving skills
  • Desire to learn

Big Pluses:

  • Bachelor degree in Asian American Studies, East Asian Studies, Ethnic Studies, Business, International Relations, Communications, Journalism, or related fields
  • Experience and working knowledge from an AAPI or Chinese American Community Based Organization; AAPI community needs and areas of support
  • Knowledgeable in U.S-China policy and relations
  • Bilingual in English & Chinese (fluency writing, reading and speaking)
  • Knowledge/experience in website management and graphic design

  • Salary: $70,000 annually - $80,000 annually, depending on experience. Candidates with less work experience may be considered as Assistant Event Manager.
