Job Overview

This position entails collaborating with DS internal stakeholders, R&D Procurement team members, and Vendors to facilitate the creation, execution, and oversight of moderately complex clinical R&D contracts.

Within this role, you will oversee the sourcing and negotiation of Vendor contracts, ensuring they contribute value to the organization in terms of cost, quality, and timelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement: Manage outsourcing activities, including budget, payment schedules, and scope negotiation, leading up to contract finalization. Engage with internal clients to grasp their procurement requirements and offer timely assistance. Ensure vendors adhere to the stipulated service standards. Showcase a strong grasp and advanced knowledge of procurement principles, contractual business language, and vendor selection criteria. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of outsourcing protocols and procedures. Undertake additional special projects as necessary, operating autonomously.
  • Communication and Relationship Management: Take ownership of contract-related communications with vendors and internal clients. Raise concerns and resolve conflicts appropriately. Foster cross-functional collaboration to streamline the outsourcing process. Apply negotiation skills effectively, manage partnerships, and exhibit strong interpersonal abilities to support organizational goals.
  • Process and Procedures: Strive to become a subject matter expert in managing moderately complex Vendor contracts for Clinical RD and PH.1 to PH. IV outsourced services. Assist in devising and implementing new processes, protocols, and/or systems, utilizing technology and automation where feasible to enhance operational efficiency and cost management.
  • Contract Execution: Develop contract content, validate budget appropriateness, verify service provider rates, and ensure alignment and accuracy of all contract exhibits. Oversee the overall quality assurance of the contract. Take responsibility for the contracting process, review, and endorsement in compliance with company guidelines for all applicable studies.
Requirements: Successful candidates should meet the following qualifications either with or without reasonable accommodations.

Educational Background
  • Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences from an accredited institution
Work Experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of related work experience
  • 1 year or more experience in PH. IV clinical trial outsourcing
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including PowerPoint; Advanced skills in Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with technologies related to process enhancement/automation is desirable
  • Demonstrated capability to leverage digital data and analytics is a plus
  • Experience in driving or engaging in digital transformation initiatives is beneficial
Travel

Occasional travel of up to 5% for business meetings and/or conferences may be necessary.
