Regions Hospital recently launched a new ECMO program to support the growing needs of our patients and community. As a result, we have an opportunity for an experienced Respiratory Therapist or RN to join our team as an ECMO Specialist where you will have the opportunity to develop this program while working with an engaged team of Respiratory Therapists and Nurses

The ECMO specialist responsible for all aspects of assembling, priming, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting mechanical circulatory/ECMO equipment and circuits from set-up and throughout the management period. They work in conjunction with the bedside nurse to ensure that the patient on mechanical circulatory/ECMO support has adequate oxygenation, perfusion, corrects for proper acid base balance and hemodynamic stability within ordered parameters, and maintains other parameters as ordered by the internally credentialed ECMO provider. The ECMO Specialist will assist ECMO Leadership in the collection/review of quality improvement initiatives, using internal and external data to benchmark with the goal of establishing best practice.

Work schedule: 12-hour shifts - Nights, 2/6 weekends.

Required Qualifications:

Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: Associate degree or higher in Respiratory Therapy and/or graduation from a two-year American Medical Association approved training program in Respiratory Care OR coursework and credentials (i.e., graduate of two-year respiratory therapist program plus CRT credential) which meet the qualifications for the registry exam of the National Board for Respiratory Care may substitute for the associate degree.

Associate degree in nursing.

Minimum 3 years critical care experience in an acute setting

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Respiratory Therapist License issued by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

Minnesota RN License

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
