SPACE SYSTEMS

Rocket Lab's Space Systems team is responsible for every satellite and satellite component made by Rocket Lab: from complete satellites destined for missions to the Moon and Mars, to the individual components and subsystems that make up a satellite like solar panels, flight software, reaction wheels and star trackers, separation systems, radios, and more. Our Space Systems team is made up of engineers, technicians, and designers who design, create, and put together our own satellites for missions across the commercial, government, and defense sectors, or who build and assemble satellite hardware and software that supports other satellite missions.

AEROSPACE PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN II

Based at Rocket Lab's site in Silver Spring, Maryland, the Aerospace Production Technician II is responsible for assembling spaceflight mechanisms. You will support the Senior Engineering Manager and Space Systems organization. WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:

Precisely assemble mechanical and electrical space flight mechanisms following written production drawings and proceduresOperate mechanical, electrical, and automated test equipmentComplete assembly procedures and documentation aligning with Rocket Lab standardsSolder space flight harnesses per the J-STDGenerate innovative ideas for process improvementsYOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma5+ years of work experienceUnderstanding of basic electronic circuitryCapability to comply with the federally mandated requirements of U.S. export control lawsTHESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:J-STD001-FS certificationStrong technical capability and mechanical inclinationThe ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as autonomouslyExperience with common aerospace assembly tools, e.g. torque wrenches, force gages, load cells, scales, etc.Experience with common aerospace inspection tools, e.g. calipers, multimeters, micrometers, gages, comparators, etc. Integrity and focus to follow and execute manufacturing instructions and drawingsAttention to detail necessary to verify components and assemblies meet required specificationsEffective verbal and written communication abilitiesSelf-motivatedAttention to detailADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this positionAble to lift up to 25lbs. unassistedMust be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working in tight spaces.Must be able to move repetitively, bend or twist, and use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls.Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods – 8 hours min Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces #RL1 WHAT TO EXPECT
