Job Description
BAE Systems is looking for an experienced, self-motivated Lead Software Solution Architect. The qualified candidate will support the design and execution of Space Ground mission-focused software in a fast-paced development environment. The candidate will direct software architecture design and influence Systems, Software, and IV&V functions.

The Lead Software Solution Architect will define and influence enterprise-level architecture and best practices for systems thinking activities, including associated tools. The qualified candidate will review the outputs of systems modeling and analysis, ensuring the results can be used for the intended purpose. The candidate will analyze the current state of the enterprise architecture, understand the current state of the technology and what the customer perceives as the gaps. The candidate will also have frequent opportunities to exchange ideas with customers and technology partners and will be encouraged to build and maintain their expertise through attendance at conferences, webinars, and similar events.

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed fulltime on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • US Citizenship with an active Top Secret clearance
  • 5+ years experience designing system architecture in large domains that interact with multiple external entities.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the state of the art in commercial tools and services for software development, cloud, and data analytics
  • Ability to innovate and create a vision to implement common principles across complex system of systems enterprises
  • Significant experience with microservice system design (Java, Spring Boot, Automation)
  • Deep understanding/experience in Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google, IBM, Oracle)
  • Knowledge of Containers (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of automated DevSecOps pipeline tools (Jira, Jenkins, Bitbucket)
  • Experience leading IPTs, projects, and/or programs consisting of Ground-related SE, SW development, and IV&V functions
  • Experience reviewing the outputs of systems modeling and analysis and building software architectures to meet the intended purpose
  • Ability to decompose and communicate system architecture and governance concepts
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems
  • Ability to analyze the current state of the enterprise architecture, understand the current state of the technology and what the customer perceives as the gaps
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, and garner trust within the community
  • Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively at the most senior levels of government (customer) or corporate management (company) to articulate the understanding of their mission needs and requirements and to communicate the value and benefit of BAE Systems solutions. Advises stakeholders on issues affecting the "broader" engineering approach to engineering activities.
  • Proven business intelligence skills
  • Proven written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Hold an active Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • 10+ years demonstrated engineering leadership experience with proven track record designing and delivering world class satellite ground systems.
  • Significant experience with front-end development tools (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular)
  • Lead Systems and/or Software Architect on a government contract
  • Experience in systems engineering functions including: operations concept development, use case development, technical risk management, ICD development
  • Some experience with strategic engineering and engineering for new business
  • Experience with ground equipment command and control
  • Experience with early design concept definition in the early lifecycle capture phase
  • Experience in an Agile development environment
  • Domain experience

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $ $239140

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
