Position Overview


Kiewit's Power Delivery department has an exciting opportunity for a Cybersecurity Engineer in our Lenexa, KS office to design and coordinate electronic, physical, and cybersecurity compliance on utility and infrastructure projects.

The Cybersecurity Engineer will be responsible for ensuring project compliance with applicable standards such as NERC CIP, NIST 800, and for developing compliant operations networks for our clients.

This position is based out of Lenexa, KS. This position will require

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Networks and Grid Automation team to understand scope, prepare deliverables, and provide project updates.
  • Collaborate on the design of utility-based control system cybersecurity.
  • Develop documents, drawings / diagrams, specifications, and testing procedures.
  • Collaborate with the team to map out the OT (Operations Technology) network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, multiplexers, and to organize vendor compliance documentation.
  • Design secure networks using critical equipment and fiber optics, microwave, radio, or leased services consistent with client standards.
  • Coordinate physical security compliance and provide on-site training as needed on projects.
  • Train other engineers on Cybersecurity, Network, or Control systems.
  • Generate bills of material for OT network equipment and verify field installations.
  • Assist with writing project scope(s), sequencing plans, client roadmaps, and budgets.
  • Travel to the job site if needed to gather information and to coordinate with the client.
  • Work with others to stage and plan installation and commissioning.
  • Respond to information requests from the client and from internal design or installation teams.
  • Attend internal and external meetings to support processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited program.
  • 4+ years of design experience in cybersecurity and network design for critical infrastructure.
  • Capable of applying knowledge of cybersecurity and IP networking principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, yet a team player.
  • Flexibility to work in related business lines if required.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
  • Previous utility company experience is optional.
