Job Purpose

The Business Planning Principal Specialist is responsible for various roles and tasks that contribute to the development, management and reporting of the Business Planning strategy for Production Engineering Business Unit (PEBU).

Activity is conducted thru facilitation of, and/or involvement in, regular BU-Level management meetings and events including the following: Preparation & facilitation of the monthly BU-level Cap-Do cycle; Summarization of BU-level quarterly result reports; Preparation of BU-level Communication Meetings; Execution of identified business improvement themes.

This position also assists the Business Planning Principal Senior Specialist, as needed, to carry out the objectives of the Business Plan strategic plan.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead and facilitate Management Meeting for Div/Dept Leader Meeting (DLM), Production Engineering meeting (PEMM), and other business unit (BU) meetings.
  • Provide strategic planning & facilitation of Div/Dept monthly CapDo report meetings to business unit leaders
  • Support business unit's Annual Business Plan Development including annual strategy; Yamagomori series; vision documents; policy tree; and KPIs.
  • Summarize quarterly result reports for production engineering business unit including: KPI, Policy Tree, Business Plan
  • Coordination cross functionally with Div/Dept to prepare monthly KPI reports.
  • Lead execution on process improvement for business unit, dept, Unit-Level Kadai & other improvement theme execution.
  • Coordinate meeting event preparation & facilitation for: New Ki K/O; 1st Half Result; New Calendar Year; or alternate method.
  • Responsible to lead for various Business Planning roles as identified on the team RASIC, such as: HDMA Management Manual update, BU Business Audit planning & facilitation, BU Short Term Planning Calendar management, etc.
  • Develop and facilitate miscellaneous report preparation - facilitate and lead activity (ex. Executive member onboarding document preparation)
  • Support unit to provide and coordinate planning visual materials for Management.
  • Support the activities of the Business Planning Principal Senior Specialist as necessary and serve the role of backup in their absence.
  • Be an advisor who can share ideas, influence and negotiate, collaborate, and build consensus within the business unit and across Honda
  • Build a network of productive relationships across business unit, Honda and externally.


Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related field or equivalent experience

Required Experience

  • 8+ years in one of the following areas; or a combination of the following areas; or in a field where job knowledge and skills are applicable based on education: Production Engineering (engineering, design, and manufacturing of production equipment / dies / molds / processes) Project Leadership, Business Management

Desired Skills:

  • Strong communication skills to various audiences including senior leadership team.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Suite particularly PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
  • Familiarity with Smartsheet, Excel macros, Power BI are all a plus.
  • Ability to approach conflict resolution in a professional manner.
  • Strong business acumen



Workstyle
  • Work is hybrid style, however mostly performed in office environment to conduct & facilitate face-to-face meetings & collaboration. Remote work may be performed on occasion when there is no impact to business.
  • Potential travel to other PEBU locations, ADC facility, or other Honda North America locations / factories for meetings, events, benchmarking, and training.
  • Up to 5~10 hours of OT per week.
