General Description:

A Mechanical Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the proper functioning of mechanical equipment and machinery within IKO Glass Fiber’s facility. They are responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and conducting repairs to minimize downtime and maintain equipment efficiency.


Essential Functions:

  • Must have the ability & willingness to perform at the expected level of attendance at IKO Glass Fibers, Inc.; to work every day, on time, as scheduled.
  • Promote and maintain IKO safety goals and ensure a safe work environment for all employees. Leads safety and housekeeping efforts and corrective actions within department, assigned projects, and areas with goal of zero incidents. Exemplifies safety in all actions and leads by example.
  • Inspect, maintain, and service mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance tasks to identify and address potential problems.
  • Execute mechanical repairs and replacements, ensuring adherence to safety standards and regulations.
  • Install, upgrade, or modify mechanical systems and equipment as needed.
  • Keep comprehensive records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of mechanical maintenance tasks, including work orders and equipment manuals.
  • Identify and diagnose mechanical problems using various tools and equipment.
  • Determine the root cause of mechanical malfunctions and develop effective repair solutions.
  • Interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to locate and rectify issues.
  • Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to implement improvements and enhancements.
  • Strictly adhere to safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and national mechanical codes and regulations.
  • Other duties as required.

Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent: technical or vocational training in mechanical maintenance is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation), with the ability to effectively work with others in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to handle complex assignments with a proactive attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  1. Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols
  2. Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance technician or similar role.
  3. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, components, and diagrams
  4. Proficiency in using mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment.
  5. Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency calls when necessary.


Beneficial Experience and Skills:

  • Mechanical license or certification.

Training Requirements:

  • All training necessary to stay current in mechanical maintenance especially those of the preventive and predictive nature.
  • Any training required by IKO.

  • Occasionally lifts, carries, or otherwise moves objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly bends, stoops, stretches, and reaches to stock office supplies, etc.
  • Frequently moves about the facility to survey plant and associates.
  • Regularly operates computer and other office equipment.
  • Occasionally attends meetings away from the office.
  • Regularly work outside in various extreme weather conditions.

PPE Requirements:

  • In plant areas, safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses with side shields are required. Hard hat may be required under some conditions

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Mechanical Certificate/Diploma from Technical or Vocational school preferred
