Vice President of Diagnostic Services

Job Summary:

The VP of Diagnostic Services is responsible for the management and quality of service at Axis for Autism diagnostic clinics and manages each location's director, care delivery teams and contracted employees. Responsibilities include clinical leadership, program development, strategic planning, quality assurance, diagnostic practice improvement, staff training and development, clinical performance, and budget and resource management. This role reports to the CEO and is a member of the Axis for Autism leadership Rteam.

Your Role at Axis for Autism:

  • Provide clinical supervision and guidance to a team of psychologists, psychometrists, and other staff members involved in patient care.
  • Contribute to the company's overall success through participation in and support of cross-functional activities, communications, processes, policies, protocols, and best practices.
  • Unify and advocate for the needs of providers.
  • Facilitate and manage the Network Psychologist Advisory Council.
  • Lead the adoption of and compliance with the Network Psychologist Charter and performance standards.
  • Partner with the VP of Strategic Partnerships to implement effective transition of care workflows and reporting of outcome data.
  • Manage the transition of care workflows and reporting of outcome data.
  • Direct, monitor, and evaluate diagnostic and referral services, ensuring outcomes are achieved, and regulatory and agency standards are met.
  • Provide assertive clinical and/or administrative supervision for clinical staff and programs, ensuring the quality of service, and championing evidence-based practices.
  • Work with clinical staff to ensure adherence to payer contract specifications.
  • Maintain compliance with payer quality standards and reporting requirements.
  • Lead regular reviews of 10% of clinical documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Address grievance situations, including conducting or delegating second-opinion cases.
  • Lead the interactions with families and the root analysis of misdiagnosis, including separate consultation with the family and psychologist.
  • Lead response activity when patients file complaints/ grievances related to care provided by Axis.
  • Ensure clinics are appropriately staffed to ensure quality, minimize risks and maintain patient satisfaction.
  • Lead care navigation functions and ensure timely, seamless transitions of care.
  • Work with stakeholders to streamline internal clinical processes to maximize efficiency, improve consistency in implementing clinical protocols, and consistently apply evidence-based standards of care.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and skill enhancement within the clinical team.
  • Develop and manage the onboarding, training, competency assessments, and performance intervention programs for Axis psychometrists with the Director of Diagnostic Services.
  • Partner with the Director of Diagnostic Services to determine overall staffing requirements and recruit staff to ensure adequate personnel are available to support the services and meet quality benchmarks for access and scheduling.
  • Develop a psychologist pipeline by partnering with PhD programs, participating in conferences, leading internship programs and being visible in the community.
  • Develop a performance management system and provide ongoing performance feedback to psychologists on quality, productivity, competencies, and skills.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory compliance, including HIPAA and identifies and supports establishing policies and processes that mitigate risk and elevate the safety, service and quality of the patient experience; ensures complete compliance with supervisory requirements and care following state regulations.
  • Proactively supports the development of new policies and review of existing clinical policies and protocols no less than annually.
  • Develop and manage the Joint Commission Social Determinants of Health screening framework for collecting data.
  • Monitor and manage resources effectively to optimize clinical service delivery and achieve targeted KPIs.
  • Implement strategic staffing and scheduling to maximize diagnostic capacity and optimize short vs long revenue cycle caseloads.
  • Responsible for strategic, financial, and operational planning.
  • Implement and manage organizational systems checks and balances to achieve established Axis clinical goals and objectives (schedules, caseloads, KPIs, etc).
  • Monitor Diagnostic Directors' and managers’ KPIs and initiate corrective action.
  • Monitor referral-to-diagnosis latency and develop staffing, location and service optimization initiatives to maintain performance.
  • Prepare and present monthly operational reports to the CEO.

Who You Are:

  • Doctorate in Behavioral Health, Psychology or related field required
  • Licensed/Certification to practice in Arizona is required
  • 10+ years of experience in healthcare leadership and diagnostics, including assessment of children and adults with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental and psychological disabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced skills in assessments, care integration, identification of and intervention when there are barriers to success in the ASA population.
  • Extensive experience with the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule.
  • Prior experience working in an outcomes-focused environment.
  • Quality improvement skills, including oversight of performance monitoring (plan/do/study/ act).
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Track record with clinic operations, including growth, revenue, and KPI-driven performance environment.
  • Arizona resident and willing to work on-site.
  • Bilingual is not required but is a plus.
  • Experience managing other highly educated and skilled professionals.
  • Extensive experience working cross-functionally within an organization.
