The Procurement Manager will be responsible for managing the procurement of raw materials, chemicals, and other necessary goods and services for the business. This role involves developing and implementing procurement strategies, negotiating with suppliers, ensuring compliance with regulations, and optimizing cost-efficiency without compromising on quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement within the chemical industry and possess exceptional negotiation and analytical skills.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies that align with the company’s goals.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, including global sourcing opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts, pricing, and terms to achieve favorable outcomes.

Supplier Management:

  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure they meet quality, delivery, and cost standards.
  • Conduct regular reviews and assessments of suppliers, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Manage supplier risk by evaluating financial stability, regulatory compliance, and performance history.

Inventory Management:

  • Collaborate with production and logistics teams to ensure optimal inventory levels.
  • Implement just-in-time inventory practices to minimize stockholding costs while ensuring availability of critical materials.

Cost Control and Optimization:

  • Analyze market trends, pricing, and supplier dynamics to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce procurement costs while maintaining quality standards.
  • Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring expenditures align with financial targets.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of chemical regulations (e.g., REACH, OSHA) and ensure supplier compliance.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies to address supply chain disruptions or changes in regulatory requirements.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with R&D, production, quality assurance, and logistics teams to align procurement activities with business needs.
  • Support new product development by sourcing required materials and negotiating favorable terms.

Reporting and Analytics:

  • Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, including cost savings, supplier performance, and market conditions.
  • Use data-driven insights to improve procurement processes and decision-making.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Chemistry, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of chemical raw materials, supply chain logistics, and industry regulations.
  • Proven track record of successful supplier negotiation and contract management.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret market trends and data.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Knowledge of global sourcing practices and experience with international suppliers is a plus.
