Job Description

***Only qualified Systems and Operations Engineer candidates located near the Chattanooga, TN area to be considered due to the position requiring an onsite presence***


Required Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field of study

• Equivalent education, training, and experience will be considered


Knowledge and Skills:

• Proficient in monitoring, alerting, management, and operations of a large enterprise with multiple data centers

• Knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies, including:

o Networking

o Client-server architectures

o Server and desktop operating systems

o Databases

o Server and desktop virtualization

o Storage area networks

o Messaging systems

o Monitoring systems and tools

o Dashboard tools

o Structured Query Language (SQL)

o Scripting languages

• Familiarity with ITIL and business/service management concepts, such as UCMDB


Responsibilities:

• Perform analysis and development of centralized IT operations, automation, monitoring, alerting, reporting, diagnostic systems, tools, and databases

• Maintain services to ensure compliance with configurations, patches, and approved designs

• Analyze emerging IT infrastructure management systems and operational requirements to engineer integrated system solutions that optimize the performance and availability of IT systems

• Develop and implement custom solutions using programming/scripts to ensure efficient operation and maintain high IT system availability

• Install, customize, and integrate IT management, monitoring, alerting, and reporting systems (hardware and software), ensuring reliability, availability, and performance

• Ensure data centers are implemented per design specifications, optimizing rack space, power (primary and backup systems), cooling, and security

• Coordinate data center monitoring and alert system tests with operations personnel to verify correct and complete system functionality

• Establish infrastructure resource baselines and monitor ongoing resource utilization, volume, and performance

• Develop and customize Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) monitors, traps, and reports, integrating them with other management and monitoring systems
