Position Summary: The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the procurement of goods and services for the company. This role involves developing effective purchasing strategies, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the company secures needed materials at competitive prices and favorable payment terms.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to meet the company's procurement needs.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure advantageous terms.
  • Manage and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable sources of goods and services.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers to identify potential opportunities and risks.
  • Collaborate with various departments to forecast procurement needs and ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials.
  • Conduct cost analyses and set benchmarks for improvement to achieve cost savings.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as well as legal and regulatory requirements in all procurement activities.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, cost analyses, and supplier performance to senior management.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar role, preferably within the transportation or maritime industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management.
  • Excellent knowledge of supply chain management and procurement best practices.
  • Proficient in using procurement software and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the maritime or transportation industry.
  • Professional certification in supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CIPS).
