Regional Purchaser, Americas

Amadeus Purchasing Function is the Strategic partner that, as a World Class company, Amadeus requires for its Vendor-related activities. The Category-Specialized Strategic sourcing Clusters interact to maintain the businesses connected and aligned, achieving results optimized by the group’s consolidated leverage. The Function has a strong globalized approach, where strategies are developed by collaborative cross-functional groups, and where Purchasing assumes a leading role. The role requires constant relation with senior stakeholders and decision makers from shared service functions and Business Units.

Summary of the role: 

Execute/support day-to-day sourcing events, including suppliers identification, negotiation, selection, and contracts administration. Deliver and propose sourcing initiatives and results, as well as regional feedback to contribute to annual saving targets while ensuring that Service Level Agreements with Amadeus Businesses are being met. Collaborate with Sourcing Content owners for the regional content in our Internal Communication Tools. Monitor Americas Regional purchasing activity to ensure the proper compliance with Amadeus Global Purchasing Policy.


In this role you’ll:

Support strategic sourcing initiatives:

Help Global Category Leaders identify stakeholders in support of sourcing activities

Gather Local requirements for Strategic sourcing initiatives

Contribute to the reduction of unplanned strategic and spot buy events.

Propose to the category manager new areas to be managed strategically

Execute Regional Sourcing processes:

Conduct Purchasing Events and related processes for goods and services requisitions, within the scope foreseen in Amadeus Purchasing Policy. Identify potential vendors, obtain quotes, conducts negotiations, and select vendors that provide the best ‘Total Cost of Ownership’ for Amadeus Stakeholders.

Provide Content owners with input enough for the creation of content for Internal Communication tools.

Coordinate local contract implementation tasks with Category Buyers and users

Support the creation of local/regional contracts of adherence to global agreements.

Support the monitoring of contracts compliance; propose improvement opportunities.

Act as the entry point of contact for the Procurement function at a local level

Address escalated issues / questions from local stakeholders within agreed upon timeframes.

Manage and facilitates constructive resolution of issues and disputes.

Frequent Interactions:

Business Units, Technical Owners for vendor relationships, Budget Owners and Decision Makers.

Legal, Finance, Controlling and Accounting Functions.

Vendors and Partners, including their Commercial leadership and legal teams.

About the Ideal Candidate:

Bachelor’s degree in IT or Engineering, Business Administration or Law and or equivalent work experience.

+3 years previous work experience in Sourcing / Procurement in a global company.

Previous experience in IT and or Engineering combined with understanding of the Purchasing practice.

Proven delivery focus, solid communication Skills and Project Management experience.

Resilient, with a good sense to lead activities towards progress, and easiness to interact with a diversity of different teams and Stakeholders.

Advanced skills in MS Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PP (V-lookup, Pivot tables & other advanced functions)

Ability to travel – US and Latin America frequently, Europe occasionally – 25%

Strong written & verbal communication skills in English. Spanish speaking a plus.

Location: Bogota or Miami (Miami preferred) - must be able to work a hybrid schedule
