Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise and assist nonprofit organizations with legal matters from incorporation through dissolution.
  • Provide guidance on nonprofit governance issues, tax-exempt status, and other nonprofit-business and tax related matters, acting as a key resource for nonprofit organizations, their boards of directors, and their key staff.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents, including contracts, policies, and procedures tailored to the unique needs of each nonprofit organization.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and provide detailed legal opinions and advice.
  • Manage and lead a team of support professionals.


Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Minnesota state bar.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience specifically in nonprofit business and tax law, with a preference for 5-7 years overall attorney experience.
  • Mastry of nonprofit business and tax laws and regulations, both state and federal.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide clear, effective, and pragmatic advice and guidance.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations is a plus.
