Head of Commercial, Next Generation Sequencing Sales

Responsibilities -
- Revenue Growth and Market Expansion Develop and implement strategic plans to drive revenue growth across key market segments. Identify emerging market opportunities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to tailor services for specific needs.
- Business Development and Strategic Partnerships Cultivate relationships with researchers, entrepreneurs, and medical professionals to identify and secure new partnership opportunities. Lead negotiations with potential collaborators and clients, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements. Represent company at industry events and conferences to enhance brand visibility and build a robust industry network. Oversee the development, review, and management of contract documents with external partners.
- Sales Leadership and Team Performance Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing Sales team with expertise in regional markets. Establish clear performance metrics, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide ongoing feedback. Motivate the Sales team to achieve and surpass sales targets while maintaining a customer-centric approach. Ensure all sales activities comply with company policies and regulatory guidelines. Oversee marketing initiatives for NGS sales and manage the Marketing team’s activities and performance.
- Commercial Team Structure and Optimization Ensure the Sales team is organized and resourced to meet evolving business demands. Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that drives efficiency and continuous improvement. Monitor workload distribution and adjust resources as needed to maintain peak team performance.
- Education and Cross-Functional Communication Gain in-depth knowledge of NGS service capabilities and competitive advantages. Train the Sales team on service offerings to enhance their ability to convey value to clients. Serve as a liaison between Sales and Operations teams to ensure smooth project transitions and alignment on customer needs.
- Reporting and Process Optimization Provide regular updates to the CEO and Board on sales performance, market trends, and partnership activities. Develop and refine processes to enhance sales efficiency and customer satisfaction. Ensure adherence to company policies, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees in Biology, Genomics, Medical Science, or related fields preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in sequencing/biotechnology sales, with a strong background in the NGS service market.
- Proven success in leading teams, launching new services, and driving revenue growth.
- Experience motivating and developing teams, with the ability to make decisive and strategic decisions.
- Previous experience in start-up or small company environments is a plus.
- Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time for client meetings, conferences, and internal engagements.
