Summary: TC Control Group is searching for a lead installation engineer to oversee the low voltage electrical installation, startup, commissioning, maintenance, and training for complex greenhouse automation systems. The installation engineer supervisor will conduct control systems installations, supervise a team of controls electricians, coordinate workflow of the project, and ensure the greenhouse systems operate as designed. This is largely a remote position that requires specific greenhouse automation technology knowledge and extensive travel. 


Responsibilities:

  • Install and commission computer-controlled systems for high technology greenhouses that operate mechanical and electrical equipment such as:
  • Climate systems such as vents, screens, and fans, fogging systems, and mechanical HVAC equipment.
  • Complex irrigation and fertigation systems that serve large scale commercial facilities
  • Complete heating systems that include hydronic heating systems, Cogeneration systems, CO2 generation systems, hot water storage systems, transport pumping systems, etc.


  • Troubleshoot and repair greenhouse mechanical systems using computer software and in-depth knowledge of low voltage electrical systems


  • Read and understand complex engineering drawings and translate that to control system integrations and sequence of operation logic.


  • Train and mentor team members on greenhouse computer controls and automation technology and associated installation requirements.


  • Enhance computer systems and facility automation by gaining insights into the physics of greenhouse air, energy, and water.


  • Effectively communicate with the greenhouse staff including growers, maintenance technicians, and owners as well as industry partners to ensure all aspects of the controls are properly coordinated.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in the controlled environment agriculture industry, with a particular focus on greenhouse construction, controls, and automation.
  • Specific programming experience with Argus, Hoogendoorn, Priva, Ridder, or similar greenhouse automation platform. 
  • Experience installing low voltage control systems, terminating wires, and troubleshooting low voltage electrical circuits and sensors. 
  • Demonstrated experience in reading and interpreting complex construction drawings including electrical schematics and panel diagrams.
  • Experience leading a team and delegating tasks to control system installers.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Willingness to travel 75% to 90% of the year.
  • Knowledge and experience with different greenhouse structure styles and their associated mechanical and electrical equipment.


Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, climb ladders, lift up to 50lbs, frequent bending and reaching. 
  • Must be comfortable with low voltage electrical wiring.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively.
  • Exposure to environmental factors such as extreme temperatures and noisy environments.
