This role will provide Human Resource support and specialize in managing employee relations issues for the company based in the USA and Canada. This position will also provide support to the Accounting Department in various roles and projects. This position works on-site Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities:

Specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and direct the company’s human resources department by developing, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and HR policies.
  • Staffing & Recruiting – engage with all hiring managers on staffing plans; ensure hiring managers are properly trained on all talent acquisition processes and practices; participate on interview and selection teams; develop extensive analytics on hiring trends; collaborate on job descriptions and responsibilities; ability to assess talent, skill and knowledge gaps and hire for immediate and future needs. Ability to lead efforts around university relations and veteran recruiting.
  • Provide daily HR support including employee relations, staffing and recruitment, performance management, ad hoc reporting and compliance with HR policies and procedures for staff.
  • Counsel employees and managers regarding performance and behavior problems, terminations, demotions, work improvement and disciplinary actions, policy practice and interpretation. Assist employees with problems, issues, or concerns. Serves as a liaison between employees and their department heads or supervisors.
  • Manage employee relations investigations regarding complaints, harassment, integrity violations, retaliation, and performance concerns. Provide recommendations and collaborate with operating departments.
  • Create an environment of positive employee relations by respecting confidentiality, establishing trust and credibility, being seen by employees as approachable and fair, and balancing business needs with employee needs.
  • Provide support with managing and delivering key HR initiatives including compliance, corporate culture, and training.
  • Knowledge of state (Illinois) and Federal employment practices, policies, legal & EEOC guidelines, as well as compensation, wage and hour, benefits administration.
  • Continually monitor and maintain company policies and procedures and remain current on relevant legal issues relating to employment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support HR initiatives and projects.
  • Oversee all agency-wide employee recognition programs, all-in staff days, activities, and employee communications.
  • Conduct exit interviews; support retention strategies and monitor attrition for assigned departments.
  • Assist the Leadership Team with special projects and other matters as assigned.
  • Oversee facilities projects, and work with outside maintenance vendors
  • Assist with basic accounting functions, including Accounts Payable support,
  • Journal Entry and account reconciliation experience a plus
  • Back up payroll specialist – Paylocity knowledge a plus

  • Sense of humor appreciated, quick thinking and approachable nature needed
  • Ability to work in a diverse, fast paced but rewarding environment
  • HR Fundamentals –core knowledge of and ability to collaborate with all areas within HR.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant HR, Accounting, or Office Manager experience
  • Progressive Human Resource experience.
