Salary: $105,000 to $130,000 (Sacramento area)

            $115,000 to $140,000 (LA/San Francisco area) 

 

Summary:  

Circular CRV Association (C-CRV) is a newly formed 501(c)(3) Dealer Cooperative in the state of California. This organization aims to create a collaborative network of grocery, retail, and recycling operators to improve the existing CRV redemption infrastructure throughout the state.  


C-CRV is looking for a highly experienced Stewardship and Grant Officer to prepare, submit, and maintain state-approved Stewardship Plans and grant applications on behalf of the Dealer Cooperative.  The candidate will also be responsible for the ongoing collection, analysis, and reporting of data to the state regarding the performance of the Cooperative’s activities.  

The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the California Beverage Container Recycling & Litter Reduction Act and associated legislation.  The candidate should possess strong organizational and compositional skills, strategic planning ability, and a commitment to the Cooperative's mission.  

 

Essential Functions:  

  • Prepare, develop, submit, and maintain a state-approved CRV Stewardship Plan on behalf of the Dealer Cooperative (Circular CRV Association).
  • Identify and research state, county, and local government grant funding opportunities consistent with the mission and purpose of the Dealer Cooperative and communicate these to the Executive Director for potential application on behalf of the Dealer Cooperative.
  • Interpret and clearly communicate legislative rules, regulations, and guidelines for all relevant industry stakeholders.
  • Identify potential Stewardship Plan partners and eligible grant recipients; establish and maintain collaborative relationships with them on behalf of the Cooperative.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director and other C-CRV staff to develop Member and Sponsor Best Practices relevant to the Stewardship Plan and grant execution.
  • Maintain primary responsibility for tracking Stewardship Plan progress, including ongoing maintenance of the Stewardship Plan.
  • Work with the Executive Director and other personnel to research, develop, write, and submit a well-written Stewardship Plan and various grant proposals.
  • Meet regularly with the Executive Director and Board of Directors (as needed) to discuss progress and updates to the Stewardship Plan and grant proposals and answer questions regarding allowability of expenditures and/or proposed processes related to the Stewardship Plan and various grant proposals.
  • Collect, analyze, report, and submit reporting of CRV transactions completed on behalf of the Dealer Cooperative to relevant State agencies, including CalRecycle, in a manner prescribed by the State.  
  • Communicate details of the Stewardship Plan and other grant programs in which the Cooperative participates clearly and accurately in a public setting, including to the media, when appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.


Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with the California Beverage Container Recycling & Litter Reduction Act and associated legislation.  
  • Extensive grant writing experience or similar experience strongly preferred.  This experience should demonstrate a track record of securing new funding opportunities and a demonstration of comprehensive knowledge of research techniques and Best Practices.
  • Ability to accurately interpret and communicate legislation, rules, and guidelines published by various levels of government (local, state, federal).
  • Proficiency in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data.
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access or other equivalent database management skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.


 

Preferred Education, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 2 to 4 years of experience as a successful grant writer.
  • Previous experience developing a Stewardship Plan or equivalent experience, preferably related to Stewardship Plan or grant development.
  • A proven record of securing grant funding, with references.
  • Knowledge of grant application processes, criteria, and funding processes.
  • Previous state or local grant application, submission, and approval experience.
  • Ability to effectively use social media to perform outreach to meet target audiences.




 Physical Demands (Working Conditions):  

  • This position does not require the candidate to work in a traditional office environment and may be performed remotely.  
  • Frequent teleconferencing with the Executive Director and other staff is required.
  • May often work evening, weekends, and overtime hours to accommodate timely submission of Stewardship Plan/grant applications to relevant State agencies.
  • Intrastate travel may be required.
