Job Summary/ Essential Job Functions:
Responsible for assisting new Section 8 voucher holders in identifying, viewing, and renting an apartment using their voucher. Interview, review various SRs and track hot-line phone calls, communicate with applicants, tenants, landlords, and internal and outside client/agencies to expedite the processes accurately and promptly.
Daily Duties/Tasks:
- Processing Service Requests
- Communicate with Applicants/Outside agencies to ensure and expedite the rental/transfer process.
- Answer/Track Hotline Calls. Determine needs of caller and answering questions or escalating as needed.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for property owners, case managers, and the voucher holders during the lease-up process.
- Resolve Applicant and Tenant related issues.
- Create and process payment adjustments.
- Review rental and transfer packages submitted by voucher holders.
- Check for rent reasonableness, building code violations, HPD violations, 40% rule and banned owners.
- Ensure accurate and timely responses to inquiries.
- Establish effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
Candidate may, on occasion:
- Accompany voucher holders on appointments to view available apartments within New York City’s five boroughs.
- Interface with property owners or the property owner’s representative during apartment viewings, including explaining the Section 8 lease up process and requirements.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned
Requirement:
· Knowledge of the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program and related compliance functions including the Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") rules and regulations
