Description of Position: Serves as an Information Technology Specialist in USSPACECOM’s Engineering Branch.


Position Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing command, control, communications, computer, and information technology (C4IT) solutions and estimating time and resources for the design, development, and support of the proposed technical solution.
  • Conducts analysis of C4IT systems for technical accuracy and integrity of the architectural design, integration, and implementation actions.
  • Develops and evaluates comprehensive technical solutions, assessing feasibility, practicability, and technical soundness for presentation to J6 review boards and panels.
  • Prepares and reviews technical requirement documents, architecture drawings, supporting documents, and presents conclusions and recommendations.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for C4IT systems, including, but not limited to the space mission systems and audio visual/video teleconferencing.
  • Coordinates with program offices, service providers, and external DoD agencies to develop solution design packages.


Key Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of skills in cloud computing, business analytics, and development of combat support applications, platforms, and infrastructure; enough to understand/solve practical problems including their interactions and interdependencies.
  • Exercises knowledge in military and industry processes and standards for IT, hardware, and software (such as ITIL, CMM, CMMI ISO and IEEE).
  • Knowledge of laws, principles, policies, and practices of enterprise architecture and systems engineering.
  • Maintains the latest advances in enterprise architecture theories, research, methods, principles, and techniques from private industry, research organizations, and the federal government management to include knowledge of modern software and systems design practices, development, and test processes and standards.
  • Knowledge of the missions, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of Department of Defense and other entities that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition process and integrated life cycle.


Qualification Requirements:

  • Experience at the next lower broadband/grade level (or equivalent) in performing architecture design assessments, developing C4IT solutions, and serving as a technical subject matter expert.
  • Must have or be able to obtain an Advanced level IT certification in accordance with DoDM 8140.03.


Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Position requires drug testing.
  • Occasional travel away from the regular duty location may be required.
  • May be required to work irregular duty hours including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
