Engineering Project Manager

Introduction: We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Engineering Project Manager to oversee and manage engineering projects within the chemical industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills to coordinate complex projects from inception to completion. This role requires a combination of office-based tasks, fieldwork, and coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery, within budget, and to the required specifications.
  • Coordinate with various departments including R&D, procurement, production, and safety to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
  • Oversee and supervise engineering teams to ensure design, development, and installation phases are carried out efficiently and according to industry standards.
  • Review and approve engineering designs, project proposals, and technical specifications.
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and vendors, to ensure clear understanding of project goals, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Monitor and assess project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure objectives are achieved.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, and updates on project status to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Handle occasional outdoor work, including site visits, inspections, and troubleshooting of equipment installations.
  • Ensure that all project documentation is complete, accurate, and up-to-date.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (required).
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Project Manager in the engineering or chemical industry.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, project management techniques, and industry standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
  • Proficient in project management software, MS Office Suite, and other relevant tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and using a computer
  • Occasional extended standing and walking long distances between work areas
  • Occasional ascending and descending stairs
  • Ability to work in varying outdoor weather conditions as needed
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on occasion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project management certification (PMP, PMI, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience with chemical processing, equipment design, and safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of CAD or other engineering design software is a plus.
