We are delighted to be partnered with a leading Community Choice Aggregator looking for a Director of Power Supply Resources to join their team.


This role can be located anywhere in Central California between the Bay Area and Los Angeles.


As Director of Power Supply Resources, you will manage short-, mid-, and long-term power supply requirements by executing physical transactions. These transactions include clean and renewable energy procurement, resource adequacy, and congestion revenue rights, among other responsibilities.


The Director will be key in developing and maintaining relationships with counterparties, consultants, and industry experts to ensure effective collaboration and strategy execution.

Additionally, the Director will engage with the public, legislative and regulatory bodies, project developers, brokers, and consultants, offering guidance and insights on specific programs and projects.


Core duties include conducting research and due diligence on power supply opportunities, negotiating and managing power purchase agreements, monitoring contractor performance, resolving disputes, validating invoices, identifying issues, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards.


The Director will also prepare regulatory compliance reports on resource procurement, climate impacts, annual greenhouse gas inventories, and emissions reporting. Further, they will develop informational materials for the organisation's Board and the public, providing updates on power supply resource allocations.


Your experience and knowledge

  • Energy generation technologies include carbon-neutral electric, conventional, and renewable energy such as wind, biomass, geothermal, solar, concentrating solar, and hydroelectric.
  • Procurement process and use of renewable energy certificates to support mandatory and voluntary compliance programs.
  • The California Independent System Operator (CAISO) settlement process.
  • The structure and content of standard power purchase agreements for various resource types.
  • California’s Renewables Portfolio Standard, Power Content Label and Power Source Disclosure program.
  • Power purchase agreement structures, general terms and conditions and basic requirements.
  • Principles and practices of customer energy management, including solar and other renewable technologies, demand management, and energy conservation.
  • The Western Renewable Energy Information System (WREGIS).
  • Regulatory reporting and compliance requirements of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).


Experience: At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience at an electric utility municipal utility, a Community Choice Aggregation program, or a closely related field.
