Schulte Hospitality Group is seeking a dynamic, service-oriented General Manager to join our team at The Trail Hotel. Debuting in early 2025 as a Hotel for Bourbon lovers This position is responsible for the strategic oversight of operations for the property including sales and marketing, finance, human resources, engineering, property management, and all hotel operations. They will lead the property executive committee to consistently deliver distinctive and memorable service and exceptional operational standards, realizing the objectives of the ownership group. The General Manager will embrace the property's vision and service culture promoting unity and teamwork amongst all departments and cultivate a supportive and productive relationship with internal and external partners.
ABOUT THE TRAIL HOTEL
Set to open in 2025, the Trail Hotel is the world’s first and only bourbon-centric hotel. A newcomer that knows no boundaries when it comes to celebrating Kentucky’s favorite spirit, its 95 guest rooms (including eight imaginatively themed suites) bring boutique luxury to the heart of historic Bardstown, the “Bourbon Capital of the World.” With 13 historic distilleries within a few miles of our front door, The Trail Hotel is an unrivaled homebase for authentic, slow-sippin’ Kentucky adventure.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Buildout, hire, and oversee functions including operations, technology, revenue management, e-commerce, property and field marketing, and efficiently staff complimentary overhead service support functions such as finance/accounting and HR
• Collaborate with Magnolia Brands Team to develop and deliver a management training program approved by Magnolia Brands prior to the Hotel’s opening date
• Serve as on property contact for Magnolia Brands, ensuring operations represent and uphold Magnolia brand standards and extend the values and hospitality culture of Magnolia across Hotel 1928
• Manage all aspects of the Hotel’s pre-opening process, including executing the Hotel’s brand vision and marketing strategy, managing operational project development and construction, establishing all operating infrastructure, and hiring staff
• Achieve ongoing financial / business plan goals for the Hotel; ensure the organization is meeting or exceeding operational, financial, and cultural strategic and fiscal plans
• Grow top line revenue and identify new revenue streams across the Hotel
• Build market share through new and innovative methods, including differentiating through training and continuous improvement of service levels and guest experience
• Consistently deliver accurate forecasting projections for areas of responsibility and implement effective adjustments as required in staffing and other cost drivers to ensure profit integrity.
• Lead monthly operations reviews and respond to ad-hoc internal and external requests.
• Collaborate across AJCP departments, including Asset Management, Design, Development, Strategy, Acquisitions, Legal, and Accounting
• Collaborate across Magnolia Brands for all brand-relevant touchpoints, including sales, marketing, retail shop coordination, and utilization of Magnolia Brand for the purposes of cross promotion.
• Effectively represent and tell the story of Hotel 1928 in the local community, regionally and nationally
• Ensure the property is operated safely and securely according to property and company standards.
• Perform various other duties as assigned to meet business objectives
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• 10+ years of management experience in hotel management, particularly luxury/independent hotels.
• Experience opening and managing an independent hotel
• Prior Food & Beverage leadership experience preferred
• Experience establishing new operations and technology and managing through rapid growth
• Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business or related field, with a graduate degree preferred
• Deep knowledge of hotel industry trends, best practices, rules, and regulations
• Strong understanding of finance/financial statements and operations
• Ability to analyze, prioritize, and delegate as appropriate

• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team
• Excellent attention to detail
• Financial savvy
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
