Senior Electrical Engineer

M-F 40 hours per week

Candidates local to Tulsa and surrounding areas.

Job designation is Hybrid and will require one day a week working on location.

Must have Electrical Engineering degree and experience. Other engineering backgrounds will not be considered.


Overview:

Perform power flow, short circuit, and facility studies in the ERCOT area. Write reports to explain study results. Develop holistic solutions to interconnect customers, correct criteria violations, and address rehab needs. Present projects to internal engineering groups and support them throughout project development.


Technical Expertise: Possesses advanced knowledge and performs varied assignments with proficiency in the application of theory and analytical techniques to solve diverse problems and complete extensive analyses. Understands interrelationship between systems and component equipment. Analyzes and recommends enhancements to business processes. Possesses knowledge and experience in the application of theory to solve well-defined problems in electrical engineering and provide analysis, with guidance from higher-level electrical engineers. Assists higher-level electrical engineers in handling well-defined portions of more complex problems and analyses. Exhibits fundamental understanding of standards, codes and regulations relevant to the area of assignment. Gains familiarity with standards, codes and regulations relevant to the area of assignment. Gains familiarity with pertinent equipment, materials, systems and business processes.


Leadership and Guidance: Leads, facilitates, and coordinates work activities of others within the work group, team, department or other corporate entity as necessary to perform all routine engineering technology effort. Ensures all work activities are performed in accordance with the policies, practices, standards, and rules of the company. Coordinates work activities of others as required to resolve routine engineering tasks. Demonstrates working knowledge of appropriate policies and procedures; however, activities are generally monitored by higher-level employees to ensure work is performed in accordance with established guidelines. Performs work activities as assigned and coached by higher-level employees. Demonstrates ability to work with others in both supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary. Demonstrates willingness and capabilities to assume leadership roles.


Planning and Organizational Ability: Develops input necessary to forecast costs for the routine projects, improvements requisitions, etc. Provides input to routine project planning documents related to scheduling and understands the use of scheduling techniques (CPM, PLMP, PERT, flow charts, etc.) for budget and planning activities. Monitors project status and recommends action accordingly. Prepares cost estimates using established standards. Develops understanding of the workflow for routine engineering projects. Accomplishes work according to plans and schedules established by higher-level employees.


Problem Solving and Initiative: Resolves and initiates solutions to routine and/or moderately complex problems which usually require additional definition/clarification before analysis can begin. Identifies problems that are beyond the normal routine. Seeks out opportunities and embrace new ideas and approaches. Actively seeks out information and understanding of electrical engineering problems and solution techniques applicable to area of responsibility. Applies basic electrical engineering techniques to perform analysis associated with the resolution of routine technical problems. Uses initiative in looking for opportunities and presenting new ideas and new approaches.


Communication: Assists and participates in the preparation of reports and technical papers. Assimilates information and instructions readily. Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing and presents ideas clearly. Listens to and understands instructions, and requests clarification as required.

May use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments. Applies principles and techniques of electrical engineering to accomplish goals.


Minimum Requirements: Has typically acquired 6 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.


*ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Acceptable alternatives are (1) a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. or (2) a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master’s degree in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor’s program.** Confirmation is required to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.
