Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily activities. As an ideal candidate, you’ll have a sharp business mind and proven success managing multiple departments toward maximum productivity. Additionally, you’ll display a proven ability to develop and maintain an environment of trust, diversity, and inclusion within your team. Your ultimate responsibility is to increase our operational efficiency across all operations in the U.S.
Objectives of this Role
- Plan, direct and coordinate activities to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the assets and facility.
- Maintain constant communication with management, staff, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the organization.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols. Confer and cooperate with upper management in formulating administrative and operational policies and procedures.
- Maintain a complete understanding of and compliance with all regulations set forth by any governing agency (including but not limited to FMCSA, DOT, county governments)
- Monitor employee performance, identify safety issues, and address operational needs.
- Collaborate with other operational units across the U.S.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, coach, and support a team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, assuming first-line supervision of on-site and non-location employees and ensuring company policies and procedures are followed.
- Set up the standard training program for all levels of employees involved in the operations and train them.
- Ensure all non-performing team members are identified, appropriately supported, and managed as required. Provide verbal and written warnings to staff as well as hand out suspensions when necessary.
- Manage vacation and time-off requests based on driver, company, and customer needs.
- Interview necessary drivers and staff and complete customer complaint investigations.
- Maintain/order necessary driver and staff uniforms.
- Develop emergency protocols for all possible scenarios involving vehicle problems, guest issues, weather extremes, road closures, etc.
- Become proficient with all software and monitoring systems.
- Partner with cross-functional support teams in improving the proprietary tools and systems.
- Plan and dispatch drivers in fleet, assign vehicles to routes.
- Ensure drivers have the daily documentation necessary to complete their routes.
- Ensure vehicles dispatched are in proper working condition and daily DVI (pre and post trip) forms have been submitted.
- Coordinate the dispatching, in-service monitoring, and activities involved in daily transit operations.
- Coordinate and manage maintenance program for vehicles with staff mechanics and outside providers.
- Coordinate between drivers and shop to ensure all maintenance issues are satisfied.
- Assist in day-to-day operational oversight of all locations’ operations including billing, payroll, routing/scheduling, DOT & state compliance, accounts receivable and accounts payable, recruitment and hiring of employees.
- Perform all other duties as assigned and may assist with other areas based on company needs.
- Perform any other task or assignment as deemed necessary by the organization.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in operations management, business administration, or related field.
2+ years’ proven experience in an operations management position.
Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organizational control of branch operations and customer service.
Excellent planning and organization skills.
Strong leadership skills including the ability to hire, coach, counsel, train, mentor and terminate employees.
Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Capable of working under tight time constraints with multiple priorities. Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Knowledge of general business software and aptitude to learn new applications; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Available for weekends and holidays.
Available to travel within the U.S.
Able to pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual communication skills (Spanish)
Driving and dispatch experience
