Cyber Security Engineer – Information Security Cyber Threat Intelligence Team


A Cyber Security Engineer on the Cyber Threat Intelligence team will help develop technical solutions and provide consultation to address complex information security challenges. This role involves profiling threats, participating in initiatives to reduce cyber risk, and collaborating with internal and external IT departments and business stakeholders to identify security deficiencies and emerging threats. Additionally, the role provides technical guidance to meet regulatory monitoring requirements and supports the Principal Cyber Security Engineer.


Responsibilities:

  • Support: Assist in developing technical solutions and provide consultation for IT security challenges.
  • Collaboration: Work with IT departments and stakeholders to identify security risks and deficiencies.
  • Guidance: Provide technical advice to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring: Support continuous monitoring of IT systems for security.
  • Automation: Help design and develop automated security processes.
  • Reporting: Assist in creating and presenting security analysis reports to senior leadership.
  • Risk Mitigation: Partner with stakeholders to mitigate security risks and develop security metrics.
  • Project Management: Assist in organizing project plans and updates.
  • Process Improvement: Recommend improvements for IT security standards and processes.
  • Threat Response: Stay updated on cybersecurity threats and respond to security assessments.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with team members and leadership on projects and issues.
  • Other Duties: Perform tasks as assigned by the Principal Cyber Security Engineer.


Requirements:

Experience:

  • 4-6 years of IT Security or Corporate Risk experience.
  • 2-4 years of Information Assurance, Risk, and Cybersecurity Program governance experience.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent work experience.


Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of security frameworks (PCI, SOX, HIPAA, NIST 800-53).
  • Understanding of security system configuration and data visualization.
  • Familiarity with File Integrity Monitoring, Firewall Review, Data Loss Prevention, and Patch Management.
  • Proficiency with operating systems, networks, and databases.


Skills:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking.
  • Effective organizational and time management.


Abilities:

  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Quick learner in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with leadership, IT staff, and peers.


Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications:

  • CISSP, CISM, or CISA (in process or obtained).


Technical Skills:

  • Experience with Python, PowerShell, SQL, Tableau, Splunk, and EDR/XDR solutions.
  • Familiarity with Threat Intelligence Platforms and SOAR solutions.


Related Work Experience:

  • Experience with Threat Intelligence vendors and platforms.
  • Experience in threat analysis, digital forensics, and cloud service analysis.
  • Experience in presenting to large and senior audiences.
  • Experience in public or private intelligence roles.
