About the job

This is a full-time, onsite position at a quickly growing payments analytics and consulting firm based in Omaha Nebraska. This is an excellent role for an experienced leader with the ability to manage the Research team that analyzes data, extract key insights and share learnings in a variety of formats. This position will also focus on managing and executing high quality, high visibility consumer and business survey engagements. This includes working with executive leadership teams and mid-management teams from various payments companies.


What You’ll Do:

  • Manage a team of analysts in all areas of Market Intelligence line of business
  • Lead a variety of primary research initiatives including surveys, interviews, mystery shopping, and focus groups
  • Lead survey project work from ideation (i.e., conceptual needs assessment) to item development, survey programming using a variety of software packages, data cleaning and analysis, and reporting
  • Lead secondary research efforts – utilize information from multiple sources, including financial documents, investor relations information, press releases, government or academic publications, and publicly available repositories/databases to complete project work
  • Consolidate information into actionable reports, presentations, or other deliverables (e.g., go-to-market battlecards, product feature assessments, company profiles, etc.)
  • Develop content (e.g., educational, industry reports, topical snapshots, etc.) around payments-related trends
  • Lead the team to conduct other competitive intelligence projects for assigned products, companies, and industries as needed
  • Maintain a strong understanding of TSG’s other lines of business, marketing materials, business jargon, unique point of difference, and products and services


Required Experience & Skills

  • Intellectual Dexterity – ability to review and conduct secondary research and understand complex topics
  • Strong Writing Skills – ability to review information from a variety of sources and provide high-level summarization of key points with attention to detail and spelling/grammar
  • Industry Knowledge – 5+ years of experience in the payments industry as well as experience working at or with a professional services firm, research firm, or technology vendor
  • Survey Research Knowledge – Experience with Qualtrics or similar product; Strong understanding of psychometrics, item writing, and survey programming preferred
  • Statistics – strong understanding of descriptive statistics
  • Strong Communication Skills – both oral and written, especially as it relates to presenting analysis to groups
  • Strong Organizational Skills – especially the ability to prioritize workload for the Market Intelligence team
  • Project Management Skills – ability to keep track of timelines and appropriately pace work, as well as management of survey projects from cradle to grave
  • Superior Reporting Skills – including attention to visual aesthetics, chart creation, and the ability to create pivot tables
  • Energized by a entrepreneurial, project-based, deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook – skilled with spreadsheets
  • Four-year college degree: MS, MA, MBA, or other advanced degree preferred
