Position Overview:

They are searching for an experienced and confident CFO with a strong background in small bank operations and regulatory management. This CFO will play a critical role in managing their financial operations, especially in the areas of balance sheet and liquidity management. The ideal candidate will bring 15+ years of experience as a CFO in the banking industry, possess a strong understanding of FDIC regulations, and have experience working directly with regulators.


This is a hands-on role, perfect for a financial leader who is comfortable diving into the details of financial reporting, compliance, and strategic financial planning.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the bank’s financial operations, including balance sheet management, liquidity management, and investment strategy.
  • Work directly with regulators and ensure full compliance with FDIC requirements.
  • Serve as a hands-on CFO, taking an active role in financial reporting, presenting to the board, and working closely with the bank’s leadership team.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO and board, shaping the bank’s financial planning and risk management efforts.
  • Manage and mentor the current 3-person accounting team, while being open to bringing in additional team members if necessary.
  • Build strong relationships with regulators, auditors, and stakeholders, ensuring effective and timely communication.
  • Develop and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and financial integrity.
  • Drive financial performance by identifying key opportunities to optimize balance sheet management, capital allocation, and liquidity.
  • Play a central role in strategic decision-making, while maintaining the bank’s mission to serve the community.


Experience & Qualifications:

  • Banking CFO Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience as a CFO in the banking sector, ideally in a small bank setting.
  • Consent Order Management: Proven experience in successfully managing financial operations and compliance during a consent order.
  • Hands-On Leadership: A hands-on CFO who is comfortable with in-depth financial tasks, including filing reports, preparing presentations, and direct board interaction.
  • Balance Sheet & Liquidity Management: Extensive experience in balance sheet management, liquidity planning, and investment strategy.
  • FDIC & Regulatory Experience: Familiarity with FDIC regulations and a history of meeting one-on-one with regulators, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to provide long-term financial strategy while managing day-to-day financial operations.
  • Team Leadership: Experience managing and mentoring small accounting teams, with openness to bringing additional team members on board if needed.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to present financial facts and strategies in a clear, optimistic, and approachable manner, while exuding confidence.
