The product planning manager will lead the product planning efforts for the residential air conditioning team. This position will manage our consumer research team which includes consumer insights and data science. This role will work closely with the R&D teams responsible for residential HVAC (unitary, ductless and thermostats), room air conditioning (window AC, portable AC, dehumidifiers, etc.), and other products like heat pump water heaters and packaged terminal air conditioners. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience, preferably in the air conditioning industry. This candidate will help both local and global teammates regarding product planning, product research, understanding consumer/contractor pain points and preferences. This position will support all North American air conditioning products.


This is a full-time position. Some domestic and international travel is required.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain product roadmaps for the residential AC team
  • Maintain good communication lines with global product planning teams, including taking occasional weekend/evening calls or meetings, helping track project milestones, deliverables, action items, etc.
  • Help investigate potential new markets our product teams should be competing in – including scoping market opportunities, competitive analyses, etc.
  • Manage the consumer research strategy and communicate direction to the insights and data science team members
  • Be a project leader for consumer insights & research projects (including, but not limited to, focus groups, surveys, in-depth interviews, market reports, etc.)
  • Ability to turn research findings and detailed reports into actionable items related to the product roadmap and strategy
  • Assist with various marketing-related items – such as marketing claim validation/research, claim compliance/testing, etc.
  • Ability to travel domestically & internationally


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business/marketing
  • 7+ years’ experience with air conditioning products or related field
  • Familiarity with product development
  • Goal-oriented & self-managed
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment
  • Be a self-starter who wants to focus on innovation


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in similar field from an accredited university
  • History of working with global colleagues
