Our client, a leading retirement and life insurance company, is looking to bring on a Corporate Paralegal at their offices in Des Moines for a seven month assignment.


They are seeking a full-time paralegal with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience to provide paralegal services to our Reinsurance and Pension Risk Transfer attorneys with emphasis on corporate, contract, legal technology and transactional matters. Responsible for meeting deadlines and monitoring time-sensitive filings and matters.


The successful candidate will:

  • Collaborates with attorneys, paralegals, and business clients to perform routine assignments and projects, as directed.
  • Assists, as assigned, in preparing and maintaining corporate records and other essential legal documents while ensuring proper indexing and filing of various original legal documents; form or dissolve entities; coordinate annual and special meetings, act as secretary to ensure the accurate preparation and retention of meeting minutes, as assigned, in timely updating and maintaining various corporate governance resources for the company's entities.
  • Corresponds directly with business clients and legal reviewers, as needed, to resolve inconsistencies in workflow and procedures, taking proactive steps and corrective action when necessary or appropriate.
  • Assists, as needed, in due diligence process in connection with Reinsurance and PRT transaction closings.
  • Other projects as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2-3 of corporate paralegal experience in a law firm or in a corporate legal function Knowledge of legal and contract terminology and methods.
  • Excellent review and proofreading skills Excellent client service and interpersonal skills
  • Continual focus and dedication to high level of client service.
  • Ability to interact and work collaboratively and constructively with people at various levels within and outside the organization.
  • Highly organized and results oriented with strong attention to detail Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to set goals, multitask and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to be flexible when needed, take initiative, and demonstrate accountability.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality Strong work ethic; high level of personal integrity and accountability.
  • Demonstrated level of maturity, discretion and judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), online legal research tools.
  • Bachelors Degree.
  • Paralegal certification a plus.
  • Excellent academic credentials and references.
